Why Housing For ALL?

The affordable housing crisis in Columbus, OH is growing. The economic impact of the pandemic destabilized and displaced families while underscoring the need for us to move boldly towards affordable housing solutions. The City of Columbus is committed to ensuring every resident in Columbus has a safe, decent, affordable place to call home.

Housing For ALL gives Renters the following protections and programs:

Renter's Choice

Renter’s Choice means you can pay your security deposit off over time, no matter what your income is. If you need it, it’s there for you.

Source of Income

Columbus residents are protected from discrimination based on their source of income.

Rental Receipt

Rental Receipt requires landlords to provide proof that you paid your rent. The laws protect you, receipts prove it.

Legal Representation

Currently the demand for representation exceeds the supply of legal aid attorneys. This initiative will fund an additional year of work.

Retaliatory Action

Retaliatory Action legislation aims to protect renters by empowering them to stand up for their rental rights without having to fear retaliation from landlords.

Homeownership Opportunities

Focus on making homeownership more attainable through down payment assistance program.

Owner/Occupied Initiative Program

This program will expand home repair grants to homeowners and include roof repairs.

Pay to Stay

Allows residents time to secure rental assistance dollars up until a court judgment & requires landlord accept the payment.

Third Party

Payments

Legislation requires landlords to accept a third-party payment on behalf of a tenant if that tenant is not in breach of their rental agreement.
